It was a chance for him to impress and perhaps get among the goals for his country but Jonathan Afolabi will have to wait after the player revealed on Instagram he had suffered an injury which keeps him out of the Republic of Ireland Under 21 squad.
The player was delighted to be called up as he looks to impress for his country. This is off the back of putting in some solid performances for Celtic’s developmental side.
However, Jonathan could return to Celtic early depending on how bad the injury is.
The former Southampton man is looking to make the breakthrough into Neil Lennon’s plans this season. Jonathan can play wide left and as a striker.
It’s not beyond the realms of possibility the player could feature before the end of the year if he can stay injury free on the whole.
