CELTIC have confirmed the loan signing of Jeremy Toljan tonight after a long, long wait for a right back.

The German defender comes in with the hope of breaking into the first team during the second half of the season.

Celtic were looking at a number of options in this window and when the opportunity came up to sign the former Hoffenheim man, the clubs have been locked in talks.

Toljan will challenge Mikael Lustig for a place in the team and may get his chance sooner rather than later if Brendan Rodgers believes the player could prove useful against Valencia in two weeks time.

Celtic have signed Timothy Weah (Loan), Oli Burke (Loan), Vakoun Bayo (Permanent), Manny Perez (Permanent), Andrew Gutman (Permanent) and Jeremy Toljan (Loan).

Short term, the club has been strengthened but we’re living from window to window at the moment and the summer will prove another testing time when loans end.
