TOM ROGIC has dropped out of the Australia squad due to injury. The Socceroos have confirmed that the Celtic midfielder will miss the games against Japan and Saudi Arabia as the country battle for a World Cup place later this year.

The Aussie was on the receiving end of a forceful challenge from County player Ramsay at the weekend. He signalled to the bench after trying to carry on, he then hobbled off the pitch.

Post-match, Postecoglou didn’t seem overly concerned about the player. However, it’s clear that the extent of the 28-year-old’s injury has been discovered and was worse than expected.

With two games remaining in the qualifiers, Australia are three points adrift of automatic admission to Qatar 2022 but does occupy a play-off spot. Rogic was stand-out throughout the last international break, and performances similar could have been helpful for the Socceroos this month.

Hopefully, he is being wrapped up in cotton wool for Celtic’s sake, and his injury isn’t too serious. If the attacking playmaker is rued out, Postecoglou can breathe a slight sigh of relief, with David Turnbull returning from his injury.
