Brendan Rodgers has named his starting lineup for Celtic’s huge Champions League knockout clash against Bayern Munich at Celtic Park.
A key pre-match debate centred around who would lead the line for the Hoops. Would Adam Idah start through the middle, or would Daizen Maeda be used centrally with Jota coming into the side? Rodgers has made his decision—Idah starts up front, with Maeda deployed on the left, while Jota begins the match on the bench.
Celtic’s Starting XI
Schmeichel
Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Trusty, Taylor
Kühn, Maeda, Idah
Subs Bench
Sinisalo, Bain, Scales, Jota, Yang, McCowan, Schlupp, Nawrocki, Kenny, Murray, Ralston
The defence remains as expected, with Alistair Johnston, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Auston Trusty, and Greg Taylor forming the back four. Kasper Schmeichel keeps his place in goal for his biggest test since joining the club.
In midfield, Callum McGregor captains the side, joined by Arne Engels and Reo Hatate, as Celtic look to impose themselves against one of Europe’s elite.
The front three sees Kühn start on the right, with Maeda on the left and Idah leading the line. Jota, who was in contention for a starting spot, will have to wait for his opportunity from the bench.
Bernardo hasn’t made the squad after going off injured against Raith.
With a packed Celtic Park behind them, Rodgers’ side will be hoping for a performance to remember under the lights.
