As we reported last night, Jonathan Afolabi has made a season long loan move to Dundee where he will look to get first team experience after a short stint at Dunfermline last season before the pandemic hit.

Afolabi came in over a year ago from Southampton where the English club rated him highly. He’s also held in very high regard around the Irish setup, but for whatever reason, Neil Lennon feels he’s not ready to be part of a matchday squad, even as a substitute.
This is where a loan deal comes in, if Jonathan can get a good season under his belt and cope with the physical nature of the game in Scotland, it could help him make the breakthrough at Celtic next season.
There have been quite a few players who have gone out on loan with no reserve or developmental games for them to play at Lennoxtown, it makes sense the club get their young stars some experience.
