Celtic have suffered a major blow ahead of the Glasgow Derby semi-final at the weekend with the club confirming today Giakoumakis is out of the tie.

The Greek striker has been in outstanding form since January and has filled the huge void left by Kyogo Furuhashi. During the game against St Johnstone last weekend the player pulled up with a hamstring problem and had to immediately go off.

Since then, Celtic fans have been waiting on an update on Giakoumakis and if he could potentially make the Scottish Cup semi-final but it’s not to be.

The positives here is Kyogo is fit and ready to go again. However, it’s still a big blow for Celtic who have been playing outstanding football with Giakoumakis in the team. The striker helps defend from the front and gives a constant threat in the box, also winning many fouls high up the park to take the pressure off the Celtic defence.

  1. News?….. a hamstring pull is 3 weeks minimum, however big Ange made sure we’d be more than covered for such eventualities in the January transfer window, I bet there are other clubs who now wish they’d had the same foresight !!!!

Also the two big (slow) centre half’s playing for old firm will be wishing (after 30min) he was playing – Kyogo, Jota & Meada will have them run ragged…..
