Brendan Rodgers has this morning named his Celtic side to face Rangers in the maiden Glasgow Derby of the 2023/24 season. In the starting eleven, there are surprisingly no debuts, and as ever, a number of talking points.
As expected, Joe Hart begins between the sticks. At right-back, the ever-reliable Alistair Johnston has been given the nod with Greg Taylor starting opposite him at left-back.
At central defence, Liam Scales continues. He partners Swedish international Gustaf Lagerbielke in the backline.
Captain Callum McGregor plays in midfield along with Matt O’Riley. Perhaps the third spot in the engine room was up for grabs, and it is David Turnbull who has been given it. Up top, Kyogo expectedly starts.
Out wide, Daizen Maeda has got the nod, with Liel Abada playing on the left. On the bench, there are places for the likes of Alexandro Bernabei, Luis Palma, Oh, Anthony Ralston, Kwon, Yang, Kobayashi, and Holm. Kick-off is at midday.
Confirmed Celtic team to play Rangers: Hart, Johnston, Scales, Lagerbielke, Taylor, McGregor, Turnbull, O’Riley, Abada, Maeda, Kyogo.
