Does Brendan Rodgers have a best starting 11? Ntcham, Brown, Tierney and James Forrest have probably all cemented a starting place. That leaves a lot of tinkering about with all the other positions.

There have been some criticisms this season about squad rotation but the other side of that is very few players are making it hard for Rodgers to leave them out.

We already knew Celtic’s Ryan Christie will sit out today’s clash and that Scott Brown returns from suspension. Nir Bitton could miss the season with a knee problem. Dedryck Boyata, Craig Gordon, Griffiths, Marvin Compper, Jonny Hayes, Anthony Ralston and Stuart Armstrong are all unavailable for Celtic.

Aberdeen has lost seven consecutive top-flight matches against Celtic, failing to score in four of the last five contests between the two sides.

Tom Rogic replaces McGregor in the hole with his first start after a few months of injury problems. Scott Sinclair takes over duties from Kouassi. De Vries holds onto the keeper’s jersey despite calls from large sections of the Celtic support to see Bain take over.

  1. The manager needs to pray that this works out because playing DeVries, Lustig and Simunovic looks risky as the three of them clearly have absolutely no confidence. Bringing in Bain Hendry and McGregor or Miller, who could be switched with Tierney, may have been a better call. Hope it works out.
