It’s been a while since Celtic have been such underwhelming favourites in a football game. All week it’s been stat after stat, all favouring FCÂ Salzburg. There was a time when been such underdogs would of worked in the Bhoys favour…..but never away from home.
We are not going to scare fans with any of the Salzburg stats, but there is no hiding that Celtic are up against it tonight. Brendan Rodgers was very open about his plans for progression from the group stages, win your homes games and try nick something away from home. Easier said than done.
Just to make the task a little harder for the Bhoys, we reported earlier that the Celtic engine Scott Brown had been ruled out of todays fixture. Brown and Tierney have been Celtic’s best two players so for this season and KT will wear the captains arm band. Rodgers hand is somewhat forced in midfield but he has took a bold decision to play two up front, something that will delight the Celtic fans. Mulumbu is tasked with filling Browns boots. Today’s game might be a perfect chance for some fringe players to give Brendan Rodgers something to think about.
