Josh Clarke had signed a two-year deal with Celtic the club has announced on Thursday morning.

Reports came through earlier on Thursday claiming the bhoys were closing in on a deal for the ex-Chelsea youngster and the Hoops have moved quickly to confirm the deal.

The club has made it clear this is a signing for the B team and Josh will rival Tobi Oluwayemi for a starting spot on in the Lowland league.

Celtic have three first team goalkeepers at the moment; Joe Hart, Benjamin Siegrist and Scott Bain.

Tobi and Josh will come underneath that.

It’s been a long time since the club brought through a goalkeeper from the academy. The last real player to do so was David Marshall but even that was fleeting. David would head down south to carve out his career in the end.

Celtic are being proactive on youth recruitment hoping to snag top young players before they’re financially out of reach.

We hope Josh can make a mark in the Lowland league and create even better competition within the squad.
