Celtic are in Hungary for a major European encounter for only the fifth time, and for the first time since September 1988 – a 1-0 defeat to Budapest Honvéd. They’ve won only one of their previous four trips beating Újpest 2-1 in March 1972 in the European Cup quarter-finals.

Ferencvaros have lost each of their last six matches in European competition, this after a five-game winning start to their European campaign back in July-August. This is their longest ever sequence of defeats in their history in Europe.

We already knew that Celtic defender Carl Starfelt was out with a hamstring injury which will place all eyes on the back four of tonight’s teamsheet. Stephen Welsh or Nir Bitton are the only likely candidates for Ange.

Up front, it is impossible not to think we won’t see Kyogo back in the centre of an attacking three. Celtic have been at their best with the Japanese hitman playing up front.

With both teams just released via their official channels this is how the Hoops line up tonight in Budapest:

Ange Postecoglou makes two changes from the side that drew 0-0 with Livingston at the weekend.

Stephen Welsh comes into the back four to replace the injured Carl Starfelt, while Kyogo also starts, with Giorgos Giakoumakis dropping to the bench.

The Hoops won the corresponding fixture at Celtic Park two weeks ago, with Kyogo and David Turnbull on the scoresheet, and Ange Postecoglou’s side will be looking to take all three points tonight in the Hungarian capital.
