Celtic’s defending has been all over the place this season. Shane Duffy’s individual errors have compounded our poor run of defensive form in recent times.

Many people were screaming for Shane Duffy after Christopher Jullien was bullied in a game against Kilmarnock earlier in this season. It gave way to the narrative, Jullien was a soft touch and couldn’t be trusted.

However, this was blown out of proportion by the media and some Celtic fans who pointed to Livingston games against Lyndon Dykes as further proof the player didn’t have it against physical strikers. There are around three or four games max I can recall Christopher having a torrid time and it’s the same games which are pointed to when people want to criticise him. Nobody talks about the time Jullien pocketed Dykes during the games at Celtic Park either.

The reality is, in the big games, the defender has been strong and even a match winner for his team. The cup final, Lazio; in fact, Jullien’s contributions to last seasons Europa League group stage run was very impressive.

The Frenchman is set to return to the fold after the international break and his inclusion will be a boost to his team-mates and the supporters who appreciate his worth.

“Christopher Jullien will resume training soon, hopefully he’ll be back in contention after the international break.” Lennon told CelticTV.

Hopefully Neil Lennon resists the urge to go to a back three again and plays his top two defenders.
