A conflicting update has emerged in Celtic’s pursuit of Danish international Kasper Dolberg, with The Herald’s Stephen McGowan reporting that Anderlecht are holding out for more money.
Celtic had been hopeful of landing the 27-year-old striker for a fee in the region of £8 million, viewing him as a direct replacement for Adam Idah, who is attracting strong interest from Swansea City. However, despite advanced negotiations, a final agreement is yet to be struck.
According to McGowan, the Belgian club are demanding a higher fee, and there are still hurdles to clear regarding Dolberg’s personal terms. While Celtic remain confident a deal can be reached, time is ticking with the transfer window closing on Monday night.
Dolberg, who has played for Ajax, Nice, and Sevilla, is a proven European-level forward, and Rodgers sees him as a player who could lead the line in both domestic and European competition.
Meanwhile, Idah’s potential move remains on standby. Rodgers has made it clear that the Irishman won’t be allowed to leave unless a replacement is secured first. If Celtic fail to get the Dolberg deal over the line, Idah may well be staying put at Parkhead.
With the clock running down, this transfer saga is set for a dramatic conclusion in the final days of the window.
