Neil Lennon gave his fringe players a start against Lille on Thursday night and they didn’t disappoint. One big surprise inclusion in the starting XI was reserve goalkeeper Conor Hazard.

Many fans have heard about Conor and maybe seen him in clips online but they hadn’t seen him play for the first team.

The goalkeeper made a winning debut against a tough Lille side and can even be credited for stopping a shot towards the end of the game which helped get the bhoys over the line.

The goalkeeper took to social media on Friday afternoon to express his delight. Posting a picture of himself in goals for Celtic followed by a surprising but brilliant picture of himself when he was a young lad, in the stands as a supporter.

Going from the stands to the pitch must have made for a memorable evening for the shot stopper.

Hazard has been in Celtic’s youth academy for some time, and he must of thought his chance of a first team appearance had passed him by when Fraser Forster and Craig Gordon were about. However, the goalkeeper has kept plugging away and earned his opportunity.

It will be interesting to see who start on Sunday.
