It’s being reported the SPFL are asking the government to shut down stadiums across the country until July 1st of this year.

The Times claim the move would see clubs be able to get insurance pay outs to help them survive. Right now, there’s no official ban on football and UEFA have urged all associations to finish their season before July 1st.

The clubs would not be in a position to claim on insurance at the moment but an official shutdown would do the trick.

Thursday’s SPFL and SFA working group update claimed they are no further forward in games being able to restart at any point but it will be no earlier than April 30th. We expect that date to be moved again in the coming days and weeks.

We keep saying it in our updates, but these are unprecedented times. More clubs face financial uncertainty and their very existence could be threatened by this shut down. Any money they can get would be beneficial.
