NEIL LENNON was asked in his pre-match press conference for the Aberdeen game on Sunday what the chances were of Celtic holding onto Fraser Forster beyond this season.

The English goalkeeper made an outstanding contribution to the win against Lazio on Thursday night.

Having spent the past 18-months at Southampton playing for the reserves, to get back out into an atmosphere like that and pull off some big saves must have been so sweet for the goalkeeper.

There doesn’t look like there’s much of a future for Fraser at Southampton and Celtic will have to send him on his way after this season. But could there be a chance Celtic sign the player on a permanent basis again?

Neil Lennon didn’t give much away talking to CelticTV.

“There will be a lot of talk, it depends what Fraser and Southampton wants to do.

“We’re just grateful to have him here. I think he’s grateful for us giving him the opportunity to play first team football again.

“You see the difference he makes to the team, he makes saves other goalkeepers can’t.

“You’re almost disappointed when he concedes a goal, he’s that good.

“The two saves were crucial – people talk about the volley at the end but I thought the save earlier , the block was so pivotal.

“Whether we can get him on a permanent deal, we’re a long way off talking about that yet.”

Frasrer has come straight back into the thick of it since rejoining Celtic and displaced Craig Gordon and Scott Bain who were fighting it out for number one.

If it was up to Neil Lennon alone we could see the player make a permanent move in the summer but the deal has to be right for all parties.

  1. No, Southamton will now sell him, to the highest bidder after those heroics (and hopefully more). But not back to the Hoops. Why do you think he’s on loan?? Good luck to Frazer no matter where he ends up.
