CRAIG GORDON has broken his silence on sitting out the Cup Final on Sunday and the goalkeeper is surprisingly cool about the whole thing.

Scott Bain has had all previous rounds and Rodgers is sticking with the backup goalie for the final itself.

After helping Celtic to a top win in Norway the player says he understands Rodgers’ decision to play Scott but he would still have loved to play in another final for the club.

“I would have loved to be out there but it’s the manager’s decision,” he told BT Sport.

“He has given Scott every other round and he has decided to stick by him for this one. That is the way it goes. Sometimes managers do change for the final, and sometimes they don’t.

“Scott is a very good goalkeeper. It will be a new thing for him to go out and play in that game. But certainly from everything I have seen, he is very capable of handling that and performing well.”

Gordon has been in goals for all of Celtic’s Cup Finals under Brendan Rodgers and it will be strange to see Bain walk out on the day with Gordon taking his place on the bench.

It’s up for Bain to use this opportunity to earn himself a winners medal and prove to Rodgers he can be trusted long term.

Celtic take on Aberdeen in the final of the League Cup this Sunday at Hampden. This will be the third Cup Final Rodgers has taken on McInnes since coming to Celtic – the Celtic boss has bested McInnes on the two previous occasions.
