It’s probably not groundbreaking news to some but as Craig Whyte’s book edges closer to the public domain, we get the latest glimpse into a compliant Scottish media who scoff every time a Celtic supporter brings up the notion there’s bias in their ranks.

Why is about to drop a tell-all book on his takeover of Ibrox and the proceeding days and months dealing with the press and the SFA.

We have managed to get some excerpts from his book via @Etimsnet and they don’t disappoint.

Whyte chronicles how he was allowed to edit his own articles before publishing, how the Daily Record and The Sun were spineless and would bow down to him and the SFA not having a clue.

Again, stuff we all know but when we say these things out loud or a guy like Michael Stewart pipes up, he’s vilified like the rest of us and some sort of paranoid wreck.

“Jim Traynor (when he worked for the Daily Record) used to send me his articles through before he’d print them, and I’d correct them for him” Craig Whyte wrote.

“In the pre-internet days, David Murray must have had complete control. Some journalists were happy to have a good relationship with Rangers if that meant getting stories, even if as a result it became difficult to criticise the club”.

“Jim Traynor had got in touch about a month after I went into Ibrox. We went for lunch at the Rogano restaurant and from that day he hounded me for a job. I was never that impressed with him. I would soon discover he could fly with the wind.”

“I had dinners with all the editors & learned very quickly that if there was a negative story I could call some of them up & have a pretty good chance of getting it stopped. With the Daily Record I had a 100% chance & it was the same with The Sun”

“I used to call the editor of The Herald. I had a 50-50 chance of getting things stopped there. If it didn’t get stopped, you threatened them with withdrawal of access, that they wouldn’t get stories.”

We’re sure there are more revelations to come as some in the media get ready to belittle Whyte and his comments to save their own skin. We have a compliant mainstream media but if there’s one positive from that assertion, it’s the new Celtic media which is born out of wanting fair and balanced views on all things Celtic.
