It is being reported that Croatian side Hajduk Split are showing interest in Celtic defender Stephen Welsh [The Scotsman].
Welsh hasn’t been a regular starter for the Scottish champions since Ange Postecoglou’s arrival at the club 18 months ago and may look to seek a new challenge elsewhere as he turns 23 this month.
So far this season, the 22-year-old has played six games as the pairing of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt has been difficult to break along with loanee Moritz Jenz also getting a decent amount of game time. His last appearance this season came back in early October in the dramatic 2-1 win over St Johnstone in Perth when a late goal from Giorgos Giakoumakis sealed all three points.

He is currently contracted to the league leaders until 2025 meaning that if he was to depart any time soon, the Hoops would be seeking a decent fee for the defender who broke through from the club’s academy having made his senior debut back in February 2020.
In recent months, he has been linked with the likes of Serie A side Udinese [Sky Sports] and now with the arrival of Japanese defender Yuki Kobayashi his time at the club may be up if Celtic are keen on making Jenz’s deal permanent.
