Former Celtic and current Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk has suffered a cruciate ligament injury, after a tackle in yesterday’s Merseyside Derby, which could rule him out for the season.
During his time at Celtic, Van Dijk absolutely strolled it but to his credit, he rarely missed a game through injury and continued that trend with Liverpool but picking up an injury like this is extremely unfortunate.
Many will remember the Dutch defender fondly from his spell in Scotland. As a player, he was brilliant to watch, the way he defended with ease. Van Dijk clearly hasn’t forgotten his time up here either, as we have seen from some video appearances and still being good friends with former team-mate, Nir Bitton.
In the last few seasons, Virgil has arguably been one of the best defenders in the world and this will be a huge blow for the current Premier League champions.
I am sure I speak for all Celtic fans in saying wish the big defender all the best in his recovery from this horrible injury and hopefully, we see him back to his best once again.
