The transfer fee to sign Everton full-back and current Celtic loanee Jonjoe Kenny on a permanent deal have reportedly been lowered by his parent club as he enters the final 12 months of his contract.

According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton has set their sights on signing a replacement for current right-back Seamus Coleman in the summer. There was hope that the 23-year old could be that man but they are now preparing to move Kenny on in the next transfer window.

The Merseyside club’s old asking price was thought to be in the region of £10 million after a failed move to Burnley in the January window collapsed as they refused to pay that fee.

This allowed Kenny to complete his loan move to Celtic late in the window on deadline day. Since he has joined he has played every single minute and as of late, began to impress with some saying he was in with a shout of man of the match in Saturday’s 1-0 win against Aberdeen.

When the fee was thought to be upwards of £10 million, you would think the club would be willing to part with that sort of money. However, after the asking price has dropped there could be some considering making a move.

With such a huge rebuild on the way and the right-back position needing to be one of the clubs main focuses, at the right price it may be worth considering.
