Daizen Maeda has been in sensational form for Celtic this season, but the Japanese forward isn’t ready to reveal the reason behind his goal-scoring spree just yet.

1st March 2025; St Mirren Park, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland, Scottish Premiership Football, St Mirren versus Celtic; Daizen Maeda of Celtic celebrates after he shoots and scores past Zach Hemming of St Mirren in the 88th minute to make it 4-2 to Celtic

Speaking to the Japanese media ahead of Japan’s World Cup qualifier against Bahrain, Maeda was quizzed about his impressive run of form at club level. However, he remained tight-lipped on what has sparked his red-hot streak.

“I don’t really know myself,” he told Gekisaka. “When I was scoring at Marinos, I was always scoring, and I think that’s what I’m doing now at Celtic.”

“There is one reason, but I can’t tell you what it is yet. I’ll probably be able to tell you in a month or two.”

Maeda has been one of Celtic’s most consistent performers this season, stepping up when it matters most. His pace, work rate, and ability to pop up with crucial goals have made him a key figure in Brendan Rodgers’ side.

His form has also led to speculation about his future, with reports suggesting clubs from England and beyond are keeping an eye on him. However, Maeda remains fully focused on helping Celtic push for more silverware and continuing his strong run with Japan.

His cryptic comment will no doubt leave fans intrigued, with many wondering if his secret involves a new training regime, a tactical tweak, or something more personal, but hopefully not a move away. He has a contract at Celtic until 2027.

Whatever it is, Celtic fans will be hoping he continues banging in the goals for the Hoops.
