The daughter of former Celtic striker Mark Burchill – Tiree Burchill, yesterday made her debut for the Hoops women side in the 8-0 win over Motherwell.

The Ghirls secured a Champions League spot on the final day of the season with an emphatic victory over the Well.

Fran Alonso’s side made good work of the 90 minutes; there were some fears before the game, with seven first-team players missing out after being named close contacts to a positive covid test.

However, whilst those players missed out, this also gave a chance for several youngsters to come into the squad and potentially make their debut.

This allowed Burchill, who also has several youths Scotland caps to her name, to come on and make her debut in the final 15 minutes of the game.

It is always great to see stories like this, but even more so in this situation, creating that link between the men’s and women sides.

After a historic campaign, hopefully, we can see Fran Alonso and his side kick on even further, including youngster such as Burchill becoming more of a regular in the team.
