DAVE KING has condemned the Ibrox club for banning Chris Sutton from the stadium branding it as ‘unbecoming’.

The former Ibrox chief believes the club has overstepped the mark by now allowing Chris to do his job for BT Sport on European nights.

BT were left raging when the ban came in last minute this season and had to shuffle their studio to London last minute in the first instance. The broadcaster then refused to emanate from Ibrox even though The Rangers were playing at home.

We had former Gers players sitting as pundits inside an empty Celtic Park talking about a game just a few miles down the road – it was embarrassing for The Rangers.

Chris has made light of the ban and I don’t think he’s lost any sleep over it, however, Dave King has come out as an unlikely ally of the former Hoops striker.

Speaking to the Scottish Daily Mail, he said: “The idea that the club can silence challenging supporters, reporters and regulatory authorities is not only wrong, it is completely unbecoming of Rangers.

“Rangers should be a leader in standing up for individual rights and opinions, even if they don’t agree with them.

“I have not been the beneficiary of kind comment from Chris Sutton but I would never even remotely consider the possibility of banishing him from our stadium and using health and safety arguments as justification. We should be bigger than that.”

Dave can’t really lecture many people on pettiness, under his guidance, he banned Celtic fans in numbers from Ibrox because of the success the Bhoys enjoyed over their Glasgow rivals for a long period of time.

The final game before Celtic’s allocation was slashed was Edouard putting the ball in the back of the net to make it 3-2 with a ten man Celtic side.

Maybe one day we will see grown ups in charge.
