DAVID MOYES has told BBC Sportsound he has held talks on more than one occasion over the years about taking the Celtic managerial job.

Moyes would go onto say he didn’t know how serious the interest was in his service in any of the conversations and seemed to suggest the informality of the chats which went on.

“I don’t know how close I have been to get it, but I have had conversations with them over the years.” Moyes told BBC Sportsound as cited by RecordSport.

“It’s something which has meant a lot to me.

“But I also had big opportunities to stay in England and other opportunities to take other big clubs

“I have had lots of opportunities now to get back to work, but most have been in the English Championship, so if the right job comes along, I’ll certainly look at it.”

Moyes has been linked with the Celtic job for years, from his time at Everton to his fall at Manchester Utd. The former Celtic player’s trajectory since being sacked by Manchester Utd has been downward.

Bad spells at Real Sociedad and Sunderland have left the Scot as a football afterthought.

His chance to manage Celtic severely diminished unless he rebuilds his reputation within the game at the right club.

Neil Lennon was given the job in May with the chief executive telling the support he never had a chat with anyone else about the job after Brendan Rodgers left the post.

With ten in a row on the agenda, the only way there will be a managerial change at Celtic is if Neil Lennon wins the ten and drops the mic or he loses out on the feat.

  1. NO WAY HOSE”, The guy is second rate performer. We don’t need to listen to self-imposing people, telling us they are the person for the Celtic job. The board will listen to the paying fans when the time comes. Moyes is not Celtic standard, no where near it, Bye, Bye Mr Moyes!.
