Tam McManus was the first pundit to bring up the Steven Fletcher to Celtic link. The former Hibs man turned pundit touted his old teammate to the Scottish champions. At one point, McManus thought it was in the bag.
Since then, Celtic did sit down with Steven and his reps but nothing came of it.
The player signed a two year deal with Stoke today which McManus admits was a great two year deal for his old pal.
The pundit said the Stoke deal was in contrast to Celtic who didn’t seem to want the striker enough. It would make sense Celtic wouldn’t be heavily pursuing a player who would have been third or fourth choice striker.
Stoke really wanted him & offered him a great 2 year deal. And well Celtic didn’t to be honest & messed him about. Go were you are wanted. Good luck to him. ?? https://t.co/IiFHA3TY8Q

McManus was replying to Sky Sports reject, David Tanner, who went on a social media fishing expedition with the narrative Fletcher turned down Celtic for Stoke.
Tam has made it clear, Celtic were not aggressively pursuing the deal. Had Celtic wanted him more, they would have signed him with Steven’s initial goal to play out of Glasgow,
Well as Steven says Stoke City are a really massive club to come and play for !!
