DAVID TURNBULL has not had the game time at Celtic many expected him to get.

After chasing the player’s signature for a year, Neil Lennon finally got his man this summer, and then proceeded not to play him.

During the last international break, David was one of three Scotland Under 21s who contracted the virus. The announcement came just before the Hibernian game two weeks ago. Once you’ve tested positive, the protocol is to isolate for ten days.

David’s isolation finished on Tuesday and he was seen training with the team ahead of the Milan game but didn’t make the trip.

Speaking ahead of the St Johnstone game this weekend, Neil Lennon confirmed the player is ‘hopefully’ back in contention for a place in the team.

Turnbull will be back for the weekend. He’s had the virus, so he’s done all of his testing, his heart testing and his physical testing.” Lennon told SunSport.

“Hopefully, he’ll be in the squad for the game. He’s done his isolation and he’s done all of the tests, so he should be available.”

With Celtic not at their best, fans are desperate to see fringe players get their chance to see if they can up Celtic’s game. Scott Brown’s performances this season haven’t been up to scratch yet he continues to play most games. An over reliance on some of the older players could come back to haunt Neil Lennon.
