We all know the story of David Turnbull by now. Last season, he was set to sign for Celtic before an injury in his knee meant the deal fell through. A year on, he has bounced back and earned that move to Celtic once again.

For many, it would be tough to bounce back from something like this. But by all means, that doesn’t sound like it was the case for Turnbull.

In an interview for the Celtic View, the Scotland under 21s midfielder revealed he was confident an opportunity like this would come around again.

” I was confident a chance like this could come around again, especially when I was back training. After all of the horrible stuff, I had it in my head that this was my aim and my goal and I knew nothing was going to change footballing ability-wise.

Luckily, I’ve come back and it’s all worked out. I’m just delighted. I’ll never take anything for granted ever again, training, playing games, everything about football. I want to take in everything that happens, on and off the park, and just enjoy it as much as I can, and not look back.”

The former Motherwell midfielder also spoke about what his favoured position is and what we should expect from him as a player.

“I’d take any position but I’d probably say a number eight or number 10 box-to-box position. I like to do it all. I believe in my ability. I feel like I can come here and make an impact. I always believed in my ability. After the injury, not much changed. It was always in my head that I would come back and be the same player. I just took it day by day.”

It is very encouraging to hear the story of Turnbull’s return from injury and how he still his this confidence in his ability that will allow him to succeed as a player at a club like Celtic.

This really looks like a top bit of business done by the club, bringing in a home-grown player, from another club in this country who will add even more quality to our midfield.

I can not wait to see impact that the 21-year old has on this Celtic side, as we progress throughout the season.
