Celtic midfielder David Turnbull has opened up on the ‘weird time’ at the club recently, with the last week seeing 13 players and three coaching staff being forced to self-isolate, whilst also dropping points in the last two fixtures.

As reported by the Daily Record, Turnbull commented on the poor performance and result against Livingston at Celtic Park yesterday and also spoke about the tough week for at the club.

“It was a tough one to take. It wasn’t a good game but we have to dig these results out. We didn’t do that, which was sad.

“We are missing bodies and it’s tough but we just need to get on with it. We need to keep fighting for everybody.

“Livi came and played the way they always do but we need to handle it better.

“It’s been a weird time for everyone with the gaffer and John not here, and all the boys.

“It’s also tough not having any strikers available and it’s meant playing boys who haven’t played there before.

“We had wingers up there against Hibs and then Tom as a striker against Livingston.

“That was always going to be tough but we have to cope with it better.”

This week has been both a difficult and strange one for the club. Losing players, key coaching staff and dropping points twice and home is pretty disastrous.

However, it’s due to no fault of our own realistically with the recent trip to Dubai causing all sorts of problems.

We may also have been missing players but there were more than enough first-team regulars in there to pick up six points from the last two games.

Players like Turnbull are probably the ones you feel sorry for, being a shining light in the side in recent weeks.
