David Turnbull’s move to Cardiff City has proven challenging, as the former Celtic midfielder struggles to secure his place in the team.

Since transferring to Cardiff in January, expectations were high for Turnbull, but the move has not gone as planned.

This season, injuries have hampered his progress, and his start has been far from ideal. He has only featured once in the matchday squad out of six competitive games, playing just 12 minutes in a brief appearance against Sunderland.

Reflecting on last season, Turnbull had more consistent game time but failed to find his best form. Despite being available for all but one Championship game, his stats were underwhelming, managing no goals and just a single assist in 17 appearances. This is a stark contrast to the form he showed at Celtic, where he was regularly on the scoresheet and instrumental in the team’s attacking play. Hopefully, he can finally kick on when he returns from injury.

There hasn’t been a change in management at Cardiff to explain the drop in minutes, but the injuries this season have left Turnbull fighting for his place.

Fans are hoping the midfielder can regain his fitness and rediscover the form that made him such an exciting prospect in Scottish football.
