Neil Lennon and the Celtic board were locked in transfer talks with one another last weekend as they thrashed out a plan going forward with chief of operations Nicky Hammond.

The club have a massive season ahead going for ten in a row but they will be doing it under unique circumstances. The money lost at the gate will play a large part in who Celtic do and don’t go for.

One man that sticks out in our mind as a potential candidate to sign for Celtic this summer is David Turnbull. The Motherwell player just made it back to the starting XI after a season on the sidelines due to his failed Celtic medical flagging a serious knee injury.

Football Insider claim Turnbull is still very keen to join Celtic this summer and it will be down to the clubs to get back around the negotiating table.

Celtic will want reassurances about his operation and how things have gone since while Motherwell will still likely look for the money they agreed last season.

Neil Lennon was very keen on the midfielder and it would appear like a no brainer for the club to make a new play for David in the coming weeks.

Turnbull signed a one-year contract extension last term to make sure his club still command a decent fee for his signature.
