It seems like a lifetime ago but just a few short months ago Celtic were on the brink of announcing David Turnbull as their first summer signing. The deal was done and there was even an image of the player sitting next to Neil Lennon in the board room with a Celtic shirt on.

The deal was so in the bag we think there’s an interview with Turnbull with CelticTV that will have got his thoughts on becoming a Celtic player.

Due to complications with the lad’s medical which flagged a problem both David and Motherwell didn’t know about – the deal fell through. David had to go for immediate surgery and Celtic and Motherwell couldn’t come to an agreement on the player under the new circumstances.

As we sit in October, Motherwell’s number two Keith Lasley has given this update on the player’s return to fitness and revealed David could be ready to go in January – during the winter transfer window.

“David’s been at the ground every day. He’s had his appointments with the consultants and he’s bang on schedule.” Lasley told SunSport.

“He fine and he’s working hard in the gym.

“We’re not going to rush him, but everyone wants to see him in the team. It’s possible he could return in January.”

Could Celtic go back in for the player come the winter window before they head out to Dubai?
