David Webb, who has previously held transfer-related positions with Tottenham, Ostersund, and Huddersfield Town, has been linked with a role at Celtic. The former Bournemouth head of recruitment has been out of work since February after leaving York City as manager.

Although Mark Lawwell has been working alongside manager Ange Postecoglou as head of recruitment since last year, Webb has been tipped to assist with shrewd business in the transfer market.

Webb has also been rumoured for positions at Lazio and Hammarby.

On a recent TalkSPORT program with Simon Jordan, host Jim White asked Webb about his previous links with Celtic. Webb denied any discussions thus far, but White continued to probe. In the end, Webb maintained that he was not aware of any such links.

The interview unfurled like this: [TalkSPORT via SunSport]

White asked: “Have you held talks with Celtic?”

Webb replied: “No, not yet.”

White pressed: “I know your name has been linked with Celtic as a potential new sporting director, you’re aware of that.”

Webb smirked: “No, no, no.”

White continued: “You’ll fold under questioning.”

And the conversation ended with Webb insisting: “No honestly, I’m not aware of it at all.”

You’d imagine Celtic aren’t in the market for a DoF, or a similar job, with Mark Lawwell working well alongside Ange Postecoglou.
