CELTIC ASSISTANT MANAGER Chris Davies heaped praise of Erik Sviatchenk for his work earlier this season when Celtic were still trying to find their feet and more importantly qualify for the Champions League.

Davies recalls the Hapoel Be’er Sheeva game away in Israel, after winning 5-2 at home it would be the Israeli side who would take the game to Celtic.

With the game at 2-0 it would take a monumental effort to stop Celtic from failing to reach the Champions league group stages for the third time in a row

“The Hapoel Be’er Sheva game was the worst headache I’ve had in my life at the side of the pitch.” admitted Davies

“Towards the end we pacified the threat and Erik Sviatchenko coming on was a key moment for us. I felt we pacified them.

By doing so it proved a pivotal point in the game and the season. Giving Celtic a platform to build on and they’ve never looked back!
