DEDRYCK BOYATA could be in line for a quicker return than expected after Kristoffer Ajer was sent off at the weekend.

The Belgian defender has been out since the winter break with a slight groin issue which has been troubling him. Every time physios think they’ve fixed the problem, the centre back is still complaining of tightness.

Yesterday, Boyata seemed to come through a training session unscathed which will be welcome news. Brendan Rodgers told Celtic fans in his post-match interview he could MAYBE call upon Boyata for Hibs and Chris Davies has backed that up but also believes it could come just a little soon for the defender.

“Boyata trained on Monday, having been out for a couple of weeks, so we’ll see how he reacts, then we’ll see what his availability is like for Wednesday night.” Chris Davies told CelticTV.

“As he’s been injured for a couple of weeks, we’ll have to see. He had a slight groin issue. We had to get that right.

Celtic don’t have their troubles to seek over injured players with almost a full squad of stars sidelined at the moment.

The bhoys have shown great grit and determination to keep going after the winter break under the circumstances.
