DORUS DE VRIES was brought into the club last season with the ultimate goal of replacing Craig Gordon as number one.

Brendan Rodgers was not keen on Craig at the time and chose to start Dorus in some of his early games as Celtic manager.

However, a string of poor performances culminating in getting beat from 40-yards by a Kilmarnock player, Dorus was hooked at halftime and never really been seen again.

Yesterday, the goalkeeper was given a rare outing after Brendan Rodgers took the difficult decision of resting some of his key players ahead of their match against Bayern Munich.

With Craig Gordon not even in the squad, it was up to Dorus to deliver, and bhoy did he ever.

A mundane first half with not much to do but in the second half the goalkeeper made three fantastic saves to deny Dundee a goal and perhaps a share of the spoils.

His shot stopping was first class, not flinching in a one on one situation and coming up big when he needed to.

Dorus was one of the success stories of yesterday’s gritty game which also seen Olivier Ntcham answer some of his critics with the winning goal.

With yesterdays performance in mind does the 36-year-old warrant another chance in the first team going forward?
