Atlanta United is reportedly on the brink of signing Celtic striker Giakoumakis.

According to Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopolous, the two clubs are close to agreeing on a transfer deal that would see the 28-year-old forward make the switch to the Major League Soccer side.

A source told CeltsAreHere that Giakoumakis was looking for a substantial hike in pay to stay at Celtic and also wanted more first team opportunities. Kyogo is the number one striker at Celtic at the moment scoring 20 goals this season already.

The move to Atlanta United would prove to be a fresh opportunity for Giakoumakis to showcase his talents and become a first choice striker.

The 28-year-old has already had experience playing in European Leagues and could thrive in the MLS given his goal scoring instincts.

It is still unclear if the two sides will be able to come to an agreement, but it appears that Atlanta United is close to signing the Greek striker from Celtic. If the move goes through, it could be a major coup for the MLS side.

Celtic have already replaced Giakoumakis by signing 21–year-old Hyeun gyu Oh from the K-League.
