Ange Postecoglu will be looking to register his first competitive Celtic win as the new Celts manager brings his patched-up team to Tynecastle this evening.

After crashing out of the Champions League qualifiers on Wednesday night a win at Tynecastle would be a decent antidote to some of the glum feeling around Celtic Park the last two weeks.

Most of the negativity is directed at the board as the majority of Celtic fans are all in with Ange. That been said, this is Celtic and games of football are expected to be won, the honeymoon will only last so long.

There has been enough bad blood between Celtic and Hearts down the years for this to be the perfect game for the manager to notch up his first win. The last time the teams met in the cup final there were all kinds of falls outs but Celtic fans didn’t care as their team won a quadruple treble.

It is hard to fathom how a team that hit those heights is relying on two 20 year old centre backs to start a new Celtic chapter. Swedish international Carl Starfelt is Celtic’s newest and much needed new defensive signing. The player declared himself fit and ready for today’s SPFL opener and with the team just announced this is how your Celtic team will line up today.

A very surprising move is Welsh dropping to the bench to facilitate Starfelt and Bitton coming back in after being suspended in Europe.

  1. Why was Bitton playing after letting the side down so badly? Why not play Welsh? Getting beat on the opening day is a disaster. If Ange had any sense he would pack his bags and go now. He has no room to lose another game over the next 3 months. We have dropped 3 points and are playing catch-up on August the 1st. Against a team that have not been beat in 40 games. Who have won all there home games for over a season. It is a brave and foolish man that would risk a fiver on Ange needing to buy a scarf for the winter. He will be back home eating his Christmas dinner on the beach.
