Reported Celtic target Declan Gallagher has turned down a move to the MLS according to RecordSport.

The paper reports the Motherwell defender is heading his bets and has his heart set on a summer move after the Euros. Unless injury occurs, Gallagher is likely to win a place in Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad for the tournament and if Declan can show what he can do, he can win a big contract elsewhere.

His Fir Park deal is up in the summer and SunSport have on more than one occasion linked the player with a move to Celtic.

You would have thought if there was a real interest in picking up Gallagher from Motherwell, it would have happened in January with Celtic so short of defenders.

We don’t know who the manager is going to be next season but if Declan acquits himself well at international level it could be enough for Celtic to make a move and some Hoops fans coming around to the idea.

That’s a lot of ifs but, personally, we would like to see Celtic aim higher.
