CELTIC FANS and Dedryck Boyata have had a tumultuous relationship over the past two months.

With the Celtic star wanting out of his Parkhead deal and trying to push through a move during the summer window left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth.

However, after being told by the Celtic manager himself that he was not getting his move the player came back into the fold and has simply been brilliant.

The day the Green Brigade held a banner aloft saying the Belgian wasn’t fit to wear the jersey was the same day the defender bagged the winning goal for the bhoys at Parkhead.

It’s safe to say he has worked his socks off to show the Celtic support that now he’s here, he’s focused on the task at hand.

The World Cup star even had the wherewithal to stay up after a set piece in order to be able to knock it down for Leigh Griffiths to bag the winning goal on Thursday night. He is in inspired form, to say the least.

Many fans who had lost respect for their defender are slowly coming back onside.

Never mind Boyata the footballer, when the goal went in on Thursday Celtic fans and players ran to celebrate with each other and in doing so caused a crowd surge, this is when we seen Boyata, the man. An advertising board was knocked over and some fans were left on the ground trackside. With the potential of someone being crushed, it was Dedryck Boyata who first broke from celebrating to pull a fan out from a potentially bad situation.

Footage has emerged of the big defender making sure Celtic fans were ok in the immediate aftermath. It’s good to see.

  1. In my opinion it makes the holding up of that banner (by the GB) seem even more crass and stupid that we thought at the time.
