Former Celtic academy player and Open Goal host, Simon Ferry has stated that the issues at Celtic run much deeper than Neil Lennon.

As reported by the Daily Record, speaking on Go Radio, the current Peterhead midfielder said there are so many problems at the club, which go further than the Northern Irishman, with his current squad needing to be freshened up after the years of success they have had together.

“Has this team been on the decline since before Neil Lennon came in?

“I looked at Brendan Rodgers’ results in his last year. They drew away to St Mirren, beat away to Kilmarnock and they got beat by Neil Lennon’s Hibs team.

“So, is it the manager or are these players struggling to get results?

“Is it needing to be freshened up in term of players as well? It’s all very well criticising the manager but they had a top manager (in Brendan Rodgers) and were still getting these results.

“So, that tells you the problem’s deeper than just the manager, for me.”

Ferry was also critical of Oliver Ntcham after his performance last night and in particular the lead up to the 3rd Sparta Prague goal.

“I see criticism for Scott Brown on Twitter, but who can you put in there?

“Can you drop Olivier Ntcham back? Did you see him for the third goal? It’s a jog back from the halfway line.

“OK, Scott Brown’s not playing his best but he doesn’t jog about.

“That’s what Celtic haven’t got and it’s what Rangers do have, the players coming in are taking their chance.”

Ultimately things haven’t been good enough recently. He is probably right in his comments about it running deeper than Neil Lennon as there are plenty of problems at the club right now.

As we speak though, some sort of change is needed, which doesn’t appear to be happening.

It’s as though we are being told, there are no problems just get on with it by those involved with the club.

Things need to change and they need to change fast if we stand any chance of winning our 10th title in a row this season.
