FILIP BENKOVIC has revealed there is a specific clause in his loan that could see the player head back to Leicester in January.

The towering defender joined Celtic on-loan from Leicester on deadline day for what was believed to be a season-long loan.

However, the former Zagreb star revealed there is an option for Leicester to recall him in January should they need him.

The deal for the player was done very quickly after Celtic missed out on a number of defensive targets in the transfer window and was made to add much needed reinforcements to the defence ahead of Celtic’s Europa League campaign.

“I’m young, I need the minutes on the park and the manager agreed with me.” Benkovic Said.

“I want to play as much as possible, so a season-long loan with Celtic was agreed and Leicester has the option of recalling me in the winter.”

It also gives the club a bit more breathing space to find a permanent solution to their defensive frailties.

With the news that Benkovic could wave goodbye in just four months time – there now has to be action from the scouting department at the club to make sure they have a list of targets ready.

  1. Things are going from bad to worse call a Taxi for both Benkovic and the Celtic Scouting team who were stupid enough to propose that we bring him north if this clause was known about. Bad enough that we have Boyata and Dembele wanting away without signing someone who’s talking about his exit options before he’s kicked a ball for us.

  2. It could be a language thing I can’t see us doing a deal for 4 months, that’s just stupid. Has anyone confirmed this with Celtic ?
