Ange was obviously disappointed with how the game went on Tuesday evening but he wasn’t for throwing in the towel in the way he intends to play and rightly so.
The Celtic manager looked as frustrated as any Celtic fan in the stands at full time against Leipzig. He watched his team squander multiple opportunities during the game and were again punished.
Celtic have put in some fair old shifts in and proved they can compete playing good attacking football. They lack that cutting edge up front to take their chances and it’s proved their undoing during this European campaign.
The Celtic manager faced the media after the game and made it clear it would be madness to give up on the style he’s looking to build at the club and the way he wants the bhoys to play. The Australian has been speaking for months now about chipping away at things in the Champions League bit by bit until they start turning these frustrating nights into wins.
Speaking after the game, Ange told Glasgow Live. “The emotions are disappointed. Disappointed for our supporters and the lads. I felt it was a game we were well in but the story of our campaign so far, missed chances have cost us.
“We’ve come away with nothing again unfortunately but I can’t fault the players application or endeavour and they are disappointed too because they know we had some opportunities tonight to get the result we wanted and we didn’t take them.
“We just have to keep persevering. It is understandable our supporters will be disappointed. We are disappointed.
“But you are not going to progress or improve by walking away from what you are trying to build. We have come a long way in a very short space of time and we want to sort of keep developing at the same rate but when you are playing at the highest level as we are today you understand that it takes more than just endeavour and effort. You need to keep applying yourself and putting yourself in those positions. We will keep doing that, we won’t shy away from the kind of football team we want to be.”
Ange believes in his methods and we’ve not watched Celtic be outplayed in any of our games. We’ve watched them compete, we’ve watched them make chances, but we haven’t seen a ruthless streak. This is where persevering comes into play, if we want to see progression we must back Ange and his style of play all the way.
It is ok watching our Scottish teams getting beat,no it is not i just wonder what it would be like if we new we had £100 million to play with each season before a ball is kicked? not just Celtic and Rangers Aberdeen Hibs Hearts but all of the 12 teams the fan base of Celtic and Rangers is up there with the best teams.. but it must be true Scotland in every walk of life is seen as a small insignificant corner in the UK and our sports and football teams only play weekends in the Pub leugue i am sure Scotland could do much better on there own with bigger deals all round….
