In the aftermath of his side’s 2-0 defeat at the hands of Valencia, the Celtic Manager was defiant about the second leg in Spain next week.

Rodgers watched on as his team struggled to cope with Valencia closing his players down and reducing them to sideways and backwards passes for most of the night. Celtic were not agh the races and were outthought by the Spaniards who executed their game plan to perfection.

Asked if he thought the tie was over, the Celtic manager was hardly going to openly admit defeat but Brendan seemed genuinely adamant his side has more to give in the second leg.

“We have to have that belief.” Rodgers told CelticTV. “We have got good players and we might have one or two back for then but we need to defend and concentrate well in key moments and, like I say, if we get the first goal then it could set us up for a really good second leg”

It would have to be Celtic’s BEST sever away performance to overturn the first leg result. Not many fans will share the manager’s optimism but they will still travel in their numbers to watch the bhoys at least try.
