In recent weeks, the Celtic squad have faced heavy criticism off of those in the media and it has started to become noticeable of some of the same names popping up.

Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has claimed that despite their heavy critics, he and his fellow team-mates decide to ignore the noise from pundits and ex-players, giving their thoughts recently.

As reported by the Daily Record, the 30-year old remained defiant, stating that the squad and management staff know what is at stake this season, and all are onside fighting for the one cause.

“Listen, we don’t take any notice of what pundits or ex-players want to say about us. They just want to stay in jobs, they want to give their 50 pence worth. But we don’t listen to them.

“We know what we’ve got, we know the squad and backroom staff we’ve got. We’re all fighting for the same cause, so anybody wants to disrupt us, well they can try and try and try. It’s not going to affect us.

“We’re a great squad and a tight-knit group. Everybody plays for the badge, everybody’s fighting for the same cause. It would be very good for us to get a final. Ex-players and pundits who want to have a pop at us can say what they want and claim that we’re in a crisis.

“Every club in the world will go through a difficult time at some stage. It happens. But, we’re only two points off what we were last season, so to call that a crisis? Last season we ended up winning the league by 13 points.”

In the press this week, in the lead-up to both the Lille and the Aberdeen game this weekend, both Neil Lennon and the players on media duty whether that be Griffiths, Mohamed Elyounoussi or Albian Ajeti, have all remained along the same lines.

They have consistently mentioned that this is all just noise and they choose to ignore it, backing one and other.

This is the bit of fight, that the Celtic fans have been looking for several weeks now. Thursday’s game could have been a really big turning point for us which we can push on from and show why we are the best team in this country, once again.
