Ronny Deila is stepping up his efforts to freshen up his Celtic squad and could turn to the Norweigan league in a bid to do that.

With the Janury window just about to open the Celtic manager has turned his attention to American midfielder Mix Diskerud.

Mix, who currently plays for Rosenborg will be out of contract on January 1st and will be able to sign with a club in the new year. Ronny is hoping he can tempt the player to Glasgow.

Rosenborg offered the 24 year old a new deal but he has turned it down after extensive talks with the Norweigan side who he’s been with since 2012.

The players father has admitted that Ronny Deila tried to sign the player whilst managing Stromgodset but the player declined the move at the time to sign a more lucrative deal with Rosenborg.

“I know Ronny and there were discussions between us about him going to Stromsgodset. But Rosenborg was better economically.” Said Diskerud senior.

When asked about his son’s future he was full of praise for the current Celtic boss.

“I’m not in a position to talk about any of these clubs. What I’ll say is Ronny Deila is a fantastic guy, a good person and is a coach I’ve been following closely.”
