Celtic have today announced a brand new four-year deal for Stephen Welsh after he stepped up to the plate when Celtic needed him.
It took a long time and a lot of errors by other defenders for Welsh to get the nod by Neil Lennon. Even then, there was a reluctance to play him regularly.
Welsh has been ever-present in John Kennedy’s Celtic since the interim manager took over.
Celtic have only conceded one goal in six games with Welsh and Ajer at the heart of the defence.
The defender has earned his new deal and will now look to finish the season strong so he can prove to any new manager that comes in that he’s worth a chance.

Hopefully the centre-back will be celebrating his new deal with a win against our rivals on Sunday where he will no doubt start the game.
