Brendan Rodgers last night ruled out Moussa Dembele for at least the rest of the European qualifying campaign.

The Irishman was hopeful that Moussa would recover in time to play in last nights game against Rosenborg, but the extent of his injury has put the talisman on the sidelines for a prolonged period.

“It looks like Moussa may well be out for the whole of the campaign, this European [qualifying] campaign so we have to adapt.

“Throughout the course of the season, unfortunately for those players with that speed and strength, there are always hamstring niggles.

When asked about the Frenchman’s return, Rodgers had worse news.

“It could be to the beginning of September,” said the Celtic boss.

This leaves Celtic very light up top, with no striker last night Celtic struggled to create. Rodgers also confirmed Leigh Griffiths currently has a calf knock and is not guaranteed to start next week in Norway.

If that’s the case, a solution must be found to break down Rosenborg.

  1. Moossa injured too much for me ….plus we got away with no strikers last season in spl….but as i said b4 ….Europe is a different ball game …..not good enuf without cover for a CRUCIAL..part of a team “

  2. Ideally, someone on loan for 6 months or a year with the option of buying, Moussa will leave at some point so a replacement is needed to be in now. we are overloaded in midfield but short upfront and at the back.

  3. We should get Robbie Keane in as cover until January or full season, proven goal scorer, free agent, and has been training with shamrock rovers all season so would be fit. A no brainer for me. HH.
