It seems like an eternity since we last seen Moussa Dembele turn out for Celtic after preseason and a game against Linfield the striker sustained an injury that saw him miss the rest of Champions League qualification.

The Celtic talisman has not played a lot this year with an injury coming at the back end of last season in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup. So the news he’s back in training will be music to the ears of Celtic fans.

Having missed out on the Scottish Cup final and the start to this season the Frenchman is hungrier than ever to get back onto the pitch and do what he does best.

With that in mind, sources close to the player say the striker is targeting Ibrox for his return to the first team fold.

Moussa’s progress towards full fitness is on schedule and if he can push himself then the player could be in a position to play some part in Celtic’s Glasgow Derby match against Rangers* on the 23rd Septemeber. Moussa was a thorn in the side of the Ibrox side last term, scoring a hat-trick on his Glasgow Derby debut.

What’s even better about that scenario is the player should be ready to take on Anderlecht in Belgium four days later, all going well.

With Leigh Griffiths showing real leadership in Dembele’s absence, the striker can’t take getting back into the team for granted but with some many games coming thick and fast both players will certainly see game time in the coming months.
