JASON DENAYER is back on Celtic’s radar as Brendan Rodgers looks to solve his centre back headache before the window shuts this week.

Celtic are still very active at trying to get a couple of more players in to add to their summer signings, but it’s very late in the day.

The defender suffered a torrid time at Sunderland last term and doesn’t look like he’s in Pep Guardiola’s plans. Most fans would welcome the player back with open arms.

Tomorrow is deadline day which usually has Celtic fans start with high hopes, only for them to be dashed by no activity come the final hours. It may be a spectacle on TV, but it’s more a grotesque consequence of the amount of money being thrown about down south.

During all the madness Celtic will hope to bring in a defender and a striker with a couple of names that have been on Rodgers list since the summer explored.

Dress it up any way you like, but Celtic should have had most of their signings done by now and have their feet up as Sky Sports sells our game down the river with the financial absurdity of deadline day.

  1. Excellent acquisition can play CB/RB or defensive midfield, very quick and a Belgian international, should pair up well with our Belgian Bhoyata HH

  2. Any natural defender would be welcome at this stage instead of being forced to use Biton there. He was a good player for us and you can’t blame one player for a team being relegated, especially a loan player who’s heart was not in that team of poor quality. I’d take him for the right money.

  3. Didn’t want to sign 2 seasons ago when he was quoted slating the club & league so fuck him he was a bombscare anyway only Fact Big Virgil made him look decent

  4. He actually made some very negative comments about Celtic after his loan spell in Turkey saying that he never enjoyed it in Scotland, and much preferred Turkey. I have nothing against the boy, but he obviously has no affinity to the club even after spending a year here. For back up maybe an option but I think going by what he said he doesn’t rate Celtic or Scotland very highly I will try to find the article it was in 2015.

  5. Denayer is the best defender we’ve had in the recent past. We may have benefitted more from Virgil but Denayer was a better defender. We should have made more effort to retain and sign him before he left us previously. I’d challenge anyone to prosper under Moyes’ management whether at Sunderland or elsewhere.
We need solid defenders rather than ball playing jugglers in our back line.
